Black Peter or Krampus

Black Peter:
one of the really creepy European stories around the Holiday Season. Also known as Krampus. This is the giver of coal, the punisher of bad little children. You can click on the title of this post and read up on the history.

Happy Christmas! Yowza~You just KNOW that one touch of that green fur and it's like steel wool or fiberglass; it get stuck under your skin, never to be seen but always felt. Yep, if HE brought me prizes for my stockin' I'd remember...for nights and nights and nights. I imagine a chokey whisper that creeps over your blanket at night and freezes the hairs in your nose as he mumbles:" For you...." and plops that coal right in. And to all a good night!

Thanks Bryan.

Barb, Thanks, I think he doesn't leave presents as much as he punishes bad children. Definitely a list to stay off of.

It kind of reminds me of a celtic mythological figure - Cernudos/Kernudos - the horned god also known as the Green Man, that lived deep in the woods .
