Steampunks 7: The Door

Steampunks 7: The Door. Finally finished this piece. Started it back right before Christmas of 09, then got busy and put it up for months. Since it was the first day of spring here, Mother Nature decided to bless us all with 7 inches of snow. Huh? Yep. So, with the Basketball tournament on in the background, I worked away and finished it up. All surrounded in a blanket of white.

I like it. The composition and style is nice. But I recommend to vary your line work and your ink drawing textures more, using diffent types of hatching, to suit the material that the objects are made of. The wall and door in the background are very well done. But I think some softer flowing lines in the figures could make them stand out more from the background and add life and contrast to the image. Just a suggestion :)

Jess, thank you so much for stopping by and commenting. I really appreciate your suggestions. Drawing like everything is a capture of a moment in time. We all grow as we move forward. I have some large boards coming soon and will try again with learnings applied Hope you stop by again.

So good. You are the steampunk master. Man, comiccon and steampunk conventioners would go nuts for your work.

Thanks Breadwig, I appreciate any and all comments. I have another on the boards now. I guess Spring is causing a spot of creating.

I love the whole thing! Great details in the characters and background. :-)

Is that a hint? :-) Because I think I am about ready to go dig through my stuff to find some cool costume-type-things!

Start digging kiddo. The self portrait should be done this weekend at the latest... and it is looking good. Got the shipment of Clayboard in last night... so I am loaded surface wise, and have pens and ink galore.
