Drawergeeks: Giant Monsters. I took a break from the editorial cartoony stuff. I originally was going to do a giant spider, then one of the Godzilla clan, maybe Gigan or Anzilla... then Kong just seemed to speak to me. Maybe it is the Beauty and the Beast story that hooked me? I don't know. It is either lacking due to no background, but having put in several that may not be it. It may be lack of dynamic point of view. In which this piece would be scrapped and an entirely new angle and point of view would need to be thought out. But it has been fun to see where this goes.

I don't know that I agree. The dramatic focal point is Kong. His size and simple features carry the drama for the entire piece. "Faye" is elegant and small but I don't know if you need the background. He's what you want to focus on, right? Well, you force that. There is gentleness, fuzziness and power all right there in the foreground. She offers a moment of frailty, rigidity and possibly fear...but I think it is well rounded and summed up quite nicely. But I'm a pharmacist. I just know what I like and why. This is a very graceful piece.
Sorry I haven't been 'round commenting much. I have still been looking, though!
I like Kong's 'ooh la la' expression... :-)
Contessa, thanks heaps. you are too kind. Love your writings.
Lacey, You are soooo busy, I don't know how you are even standing. Family, Artist, intructor, Mentor, Wife, Mommy... heck, I am doing well just to remember where the car keys are. When you are good and your bunch is ready, we will all get together. All is good... nothing bad.
You may be right about the novel competition, although I was thinking that it would be nice if I had some time this month to at least outline a concept, which doesn't seem to be happening. :-) We'll see how the next couple of weeks go.
As for Kong, I love that you can't see her face--there's a little bit of mystery there, but her posture doesn't imply terror, so I like to think she's looking mighty sweet. :-)
lovely Kong - really expressive!
kevin, thanks man.
Nicole, I know all about having no time to prepare. So, maybe you should use it as a kick off for the next submission down the road. As for Kong, thanks... I thought she was sort of in a "puppy love" posture.
