Gray Profile: started yesterday morning. will continue today. This is a scan after the first morning's work. We shall see what becomes of her. I heard a wise person once say that an artist spends the first session creating a drawing and the rest of the sessions screwing it up and fixing series after series of mistakes due to indecision. Yep, sounds about right for me.

Have you thought about just leaving it [and really, I mean drawings at this stage in general, not just this specific one] as is, signing it, and moving on to the next? I have this awful compulsion to bring everything to a certain level of finish, and with my last drawing I was trying to kind-of not do that. It seems all the pros can do it, and it looks so confident and, well, complete!

Anyway, that's something I struggle with in drawing and painting. I love when I see work where you can see more than one stage/level of finish, and it gives you a clue as to how the artist sees and thinks... yet I always feel the need to cover it all up.

We totally enjoyed getting ice cream with you two! I have decided to call you The Bells. ;-)

well, unfortunately, I have worked on this drawing since the scan. But I have another on the board that I will try to let go earlier. I will definitely explore that. New ways of thinking. So cool in principle, so difficult in practice.

we had a great time with you two as well. And, the Bells we shall be. -thanks heaps. db
