Self Portrait 4:Well, did one with dark darks. This was a hated beast to scan. Prismacolor has so much wax content that if I put a wick in this drawing it will burn for a week. The build up is tremendous. I will have to find another medium for working with saturated intense values, because this was a real car crash and didn't need to be. I learned. Boundaries now reset. That is always good. Came really close to going "doug smash" on this one. And to pieces it almost went. But, that isn't a proper example to set or an adult solution. So, since I can't drink... I just sat with arms folded and hated until I could feel that the drawing felt sorry.

And I think that it IS sorry to have caused so much dismay but man oh man what a piece! It's always incredible that one can feel so much in and from your art: ranging from textures to emotions. Sorry it was such an evil sea witch but at least you showed it who was boss. You man, you. I'd hate to think we could have lost it to "Doug smash."
Lee Ann said the same thing. Maybe my shoes are too tight? Maybe my head isn't screwed on just right? Maybe my buttocks swing too far to the right?

they run about 12 x 18 or so... inches. Gotta work small. Have a small scanner and even smaller drawing table.

Ha, the story behind the drawing is almost as good as the art itself. Almost. That is a killer self portrait (in more ways than one apparently)
Bruna, you are too kind, thank you. Bryan, man... you are right on with how close that piece came to fearing the shredder. Gotta find a better pencil, maybe I need to explore beyond the local store. But that is like rolling dice just really slow. Thanks for the kind words of encouragement. -db
